Anti-advertising

CHALLENGE

 

Create an ad campaign for a boutique shop that caters to tourists and highly gifted art students in Savannah, Georgia. ARC’s owner is a creative director himself who shies away from the idea of traditional advertising.

OUTCOME

 

​Kalen created images of James Dean without clothing to complement his boutique clothing shop concept, selling used and new items. Embracing a postmodern approach, we designed an embossing kit featuring these images, allowing art students and tourists to personally emboss the logo onto the images. Our aim was to distance ourselves from traditional advertising methods while simultaneously popularizing the brand name. Additionally, given the enormous talent of SCAD students in Savannah, we conceptualized tote bags with student designs.
